Thailand: Adverse weather forecast across southern provinces through at least Nov. 27

Severe weather is forecast across parts of southern Thailand through at least Nov. 19. As of Nov. 23, the Thai Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall over southern Thailand and rough seas in the Gulf of Thailand Nov. 24-27. The heaviest rainfall is forecast over Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Surat Thani, and Yala provinces. The heavy downpours may result in flash floods and landslides in parts of the affected provinces.

Rough seas are also forecast in the Gulf of Thailand due to strong winds. Waves of around 3 meters (10 feet) high are possible in the lower Gulf of Thailand and around 2 meters (7 meters) in the upper Gulf of Thailand. Authorities have requested that all vessels navigate with caution, avoid areas with thunderstorms, and small boats in the lower Gulf should be kept ashore….
