Thai PM announces plan to end quarantine for vaccinated tourists

In a televised address to the nation on October 11, Thailand’s prime minister, Prayuth Chan-ocha announced more details of his plan to reopen Thailand. This includes an end to quarantine for some fully vaccinated visitors. If the plan is formally approved it could come into effect as early as November 1.

Low-risk countries

The Thai PM spoke about opening up Thailand quarantine-free to fully vaccinated visitors from countries which have been designated as low risk. The countries mentioned by the Thai PM for the initial phase from November 1 included China, Germany, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States.

Prayuth said there would be at least 10 countries on the allowed list from November 1. That would be further expanded on December 1. And from January 1, 2022, it should be a comprehensive list of countries. Visitors from countries who aren’t on the initial approved list will…
