Thai National Parks Chief released on 400,000 baht bail following alleged bribery charges

Anti-corruption police temporarily released the director-general of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation late Tuesday, December 27th, after arresting him for allegedly demanding bribes and malfeasance in office.

The accused, Mr. Rutchada Suriyakul Na Ayutya, placed a 400,000 baht bail surety to be released, according to the police. He was let go because he is not at risk of absconding the country, has a permanent residence, and is a high-ranking official, the police said.

Rutchada was accused of allegedly demanding bribes from officials in exchange for promotions and dereliction of duty.
