Thai government staff to WFH next week, Cambodia unlikely to follow suit as it maintains open economy

Thai Government officials will work from home after New Year while online classes may be brought back as part of efforts to contain the outbreak of the Omicron coronavirus variant, says the Public Health Ministry.

The private sector is also being encouraged to follow suit by encouraging staff to work from home.

However, Cambodia is not likely to follow suit despite the spread of Omicron variant cases, as it will continue to fully resume the re-opening of socio-economic activities which began on November 1, said Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Cambodia’s Omicron cases had increased to 33 as of Tuesday.

Speaking before a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Deputy Public Health Minister Sathit Pitutecha said the ministry submitted scenarios on the Omicron outbreak to the cabinet.
