Thai Deputy Police Chief claims foreign investors are “operating like mafia in Thailand’s nightlife sector”

BANGKOK, THAILAND — Over 200 Royal Thai police officers were deployed in an operation which sprung simultaneous surprise raids upon seven entertainment venues across Bangkok in the early morning of Tuesday, all of which are allegedly run by foreign business persons or nominees.

The seven nightclubs that were raided are SpacePlus and K Bangkok at Royal City Avenue Alley; Hollywood, Brooz, and Asgard in Huai Khwang; and Baby Face in the Khlong Tan area.

This is yet another raid within just a week since Thai police busted an illegal nightclub on 26 October. However, the latest operation did not result in as many arrests as the previous raid as police only discovered two who tested positive after urine drug tests.
