A teacher was injured in an attack by a knife-wielding man who broke into a school in Khon San district of Thailand’s north-eastern province of Chaiyaphum, while the children and teachers were attending a flag-raising ceremony this morning.
According to the police report, the 37-year-old assailant broke into Ban Namphu Hin Lat School, in Thung Na Lao sub-district, carrying a knife, and ran towards the teachers and students, causing them to run for their lives.
The assailant attacked a teacher using his knife before running away and hiding in a shelter in front of the school.
Police rushed to the scene and it took them about an hour to talk him into surrendering.
The man was taken to the Korn Sarn Hospital after it was discovered that he has a history of being treated for psychological problems.
