A Swiss woman, a tourist under the Phuket Sandbox scheme, has been found dead near a waterfall, a suspected murder.
The woman’s body was discovered near Tone Ao Yon Waterfall in tambon Wichit, Muang district of Phuket, on Tuesday.
A source from the Immigration Bureau said the woman was identified as Nicole Sauvain-Weisskopf, a 57-year-old Swiss national. She entered Thailand on July 13 from Singapore as a tourist under the Phuket Sandbox scheme.
Investigators from tambon Wichit police led staff from a rescue foundation to the area after being informed that her body had been found a kilometre away from the main waterfall. Her body was in a waterway and covered by a black canvas sheet.
The woman wore a pink T-shirt and a jacket. Police expected she had been dead for three days. Police found 10 business cards with her name in her jacket.
