Suspected knife attacker moved to Bangkok remand home

The 14-year-old school boy, who allegedly stabbed his fellow student to death at their school in Bangkok’s Suan Luang district on Monday, has been moved to the juvenile observation and protection centre in Bangkok for detention, pending trial.

The suspect, whose identity is being withheld, was escorted to the Central Juvenile and Family Court yesterday, to seek a court approved extension of his time in custody now that he has been charged with premediated murder and illegally carrying a weapon in public.

The police objected to bail being granted, because the suspect faces very serious charges which carry heavy penalties and he may try to escape if freed on bail. The court granted the request for further detention at the juvenile observation and protection centre.
