The Fine Arts Department (FAD) and Suphan Buri province will open a learning centre to showcase the beginning of Suphannaphum kingdom on Aug 19.
The centre is called Khun Luang Phra Ngua And The History of Suphan Buri and is in Muang district. Khun Luang Phra Ngua, or King Borommarachathirat 1, was the first king of the Suphannaphum dynasty before ruling the Ayutthaya kingdom as the third king from 1370 to 1388.
The learning centre was initiated by the late former prime minister Banharn Silpa-archa. The FAD started working on the project in 2010. The facility houses a large bronze sculpture of the king at the centre of an 88m-long bronze relief. The art piece tells the story of the prehistory of people…
