Slovenian Tourist Gases Himself to Death with Helium in Pattaya Condo

Pattaya —

A Slovenian man found dead in a condominium complex in South Pattaya yesterday, December 6th, was believed to have died from suffocating himself with helium.

The tragic incident took place at a condo building, whose name was withheld pending a full police investigation, located on the road up Khao Phra Tamnak in South Pattaya, Chonburi province. Pattaya police and Sawang Boriboon rescue workers rushed to the scene upon notification.

Upon arrival, the authorities found the deceased, a 47-year-old Slovenian man, whose name was withheld pending family notification, lying on the sofa in his room on the 29th floor of the condo. He was dressed in a green short-sleeved T-shirt and black shorts. A plastic bag covered his head, with a rubber hose connected it to a helium tank by the side of the sofa.

A thorough inspection of the room revealed no signs of struggle or ransacking. Additionally, no visible injuries were found on the deceased’s body.

Pattaya police preliminary investigations suggested that the victim had been residing in the room for approximately one month. Prior to the discovery, his caretaker unsuccessfully attempted to contact him by phone and ultimately found the body.

Initially, Pattaya police suspected that the victim may have been stressed due to personal issues, leading him to take his own life. However, they would contact the deceased’s relatives to gather more information and confirm the exact cause of death. The victim’s embassy would also be notified.
