Sleep means death for Thai students in new Netflix thriller ‘Deep’

Netflix’s next Thai-language original show is a mystery thriller collab between students and studio veterans that hits the streams next month.

A showcase of young talents with a next-gen production crew, Deep was produced by Bangkok University students with support from filmmakers Adirek “Uncle” Wattaleela and Wisit Sasanatieng in collaboration with Transformation Films.

The movie follows four medical students who sign up for a THB100,000 (US$3,200) medical experiment to test a new drug that causes sleep deprivation. Sleepless scenes familiar to adderall- or ritalin-addicted Chula students ensue with one menacing plot device – falling asleep for over a minute could mean death.
