Should I move to Thailand or go to College?

Hi everyone!
I’m in a bit of a dilemma here to which I request the unbiased opinion of reddit.

Me (23F) and my boyfriend (24M), are trying to start our life together in our home country, Portugal, I have a full time 9-5 job with steady income and he is a freelance. In the past couple months he’s been getting more jobs and our quality of life has been improving. Although, not so much, we want to enjoy ourselves, but we also want to move out of our parents place, and doing both is impossible… With this in mind, I was considering going back to college to take my bachelors degree while still working, and taking it slow. But now he has the idea that he would prefer to move to Thailand because with our salaries we could have a great life there.

So I’ll present to you the reasons why I’m unsure about the move:

1- I’ve never been in Asia, he has. What if I don’t like it? What if I get there and all I want is to come back home?

2- Family. I was living abroad for 3 years, I came back to Portugal a year ago, but Thailand is on the other side of the world and I’m afraid I can’t come home when I need. If something happens with my parents or grandparents, or if I can only come once a year…

3- Going to college was my dream since I was a kid. I studied Marketing in Denmark but it’s a 2 year degree, not a bachelor. I work in marketing already and I know I don’t need it now, but I’m afraid to miss my chance…

Why I’m considering Thailand:

1- We agreed that if we do this we make a plan with a deadline. We would go for a year, after that we would discuss if we want to stay or come back.

2- I’m young now, and this would be an amazing experience for myself, I don’t want to live with “what ifs”

3- And I wouldn’t quit right away… I would take something called non paid leave, which I can do for a year and then come back to work. Like taking a break from my job, although this would have to be approved. And also my company has an office in Bangkok so I could try and ask to be moved there…

4- Last but not least: living in Thailand – the culture has always fascinated me, the food, the people, budism, the nature, everything seems so amazing and beautiful, I’ve always wanted to go there.

I apologize for the veeeeery long post, but I’m really confused and scared here. Please help me reddit 🥹
