Senegal hold Chaba Kaew

The Thai women’s team salvaged some pride when they drew 1-1 with Senegal in a friendly in New Zealand yesterday.

Janista Jinantuya scored for the Chaba Kaew after 17 minutes and Awa Ndeye Diakhate equalised for the Africans from the penalty spot in the 67th minute at Hamilton’s Waikato Stadium.

It was a match between teams who were eliminated in the play-offs for the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup.

Thailand’s hopes of making their third straight appearance in the World Cup ended on Saturday when they lost 2-0 to Cameroon.

Thailand coach Miyo Okamoto made wholesale changes to the team against Senegal, who had lost to Haiti in the play-offs.
