Sending regular mail from the US to Bangkok, estimated time in weeks? Any way to find lost mail in the Thai postal system if address had correct postal code but incorrect city name?

I had somebody send me a piece of mail from the US over a month ago and it has not arrived (It was sent on May 1st). I’m realizing now that I formatted the address incorrectly, using Bangkok as the city name (and the province name) instead of using Phaya Thai as the city name.

So the address should have been like this: (using fake first line and name here for privacy):

Fred Smith

1300/555 Fred’s Condo, Phahonyothin Road

10400 Phaya Thai (Bangkok)

Thailand

But it was addressed like this due to how I filled out the form in the US system:

Fred Smith

1300/555 Fred’s Condo, Phahonyothin Road

10400 Bangkok (Bangkok)

Thailand

In the US the standard is that as long as the postal code is correct, it doesn’t matter if the city name is different. Is that possibly also true in Thailand?

So either this letter is taking a really long time, or it has been lost.

Unfortunately, on the sender’s end there is now no way to track this. Is there a way to track it down in the Thai postal system if it is by chance sitting somewhere due to the wrong city name?
