Sending Gifts from UK

Hi! I’ve tried searching but can’t find an answer and I’m completely new to this, so hope you don’t mind! :)

My girlfriend is currently living in Thailand and has asked for some things, like some clothes, she left behind to be sent (if possible). I’d also like to send her a surprise early birthday gift (probably just like a book or two) along with it. I know that I can send gifts from Thailand directly but as I’ll already be sending stuff from the UK it seems easier (please correct me)

I’ve read about import tax, is this on every parcel that someone receives in Thailand including gifts? I’m okay sending her the money to receive it, but she is also confused about the procedure. Will she have to visit a post office to collect and pay?

Also, what is the best method in sending parcels as I’m sure this will not be the only parcel I send to her. There’s no real rush as she’s there for a few months, but also want it to arrive safely. When sending abroad I usually just stick with post office, would you recommend? When googling (even though they’re not the greatest in the UK 🫣) Evri seem to provide a good option where they fill in customs for you, was wondering if anyone had any experiences with them?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, seriously!

Thank you so much in advance!!!
