‘Saint Max’ emerges as a true entertainer at St James’ Park

No matter what happens to Newcastle United in the coming months, at the end of the season, the Premier League should give French winger Allan Saint-Maximin a special award for being the most entertaining player in the top flight.

He’s got a wonderful name for a start. Saint-Maximin on the team sheet would catch the eye even if he was hopeless, which he most definitely isn’t.

Every time he touches the ball, something seems to happen.

Saint-Maximin, 24, is a born crowd-pleaser, the type of player Newcastle have been lacking for so long. It will come as no surprise that he is fondly known amongst fans as “Saint Max”.

Even last season when Newcastle were dire, Saint-Maximin gave the Toon Army a flicker of hope.
