S Korea donates vaccines

South Korea has donated bivalent Covid-19 vaccines to Thailand to mark the 65th year of bilateral ties.

The South Korean government has provided 501,120 doses of Pfizer’s BA.1 bivalent Covid-19 vaccine to help Thailand curb the ongoing spreading of subvariants more effectively, such as XBB.1.5 (Kraken) and CH.1.1 (Orthrus), according to a statement from the South Korean embassy.

The vaccine will reach the kingdom today, marking the second such donation. The first included 470,000 doses of AstraZeneca and was dispatched in October 2021.

This time, the country is sending the second generation of a bivalent vaccine, developed by combining molecules of the spiel proteins from the original virus and the Omicron variant.
