Port, ex-champs Buriram claim important victories

Port won their first match under new coach Dusit Chalermsan last night, when former champions Buriram United joined early pacesetters Samut Prakan City at the top of Thai League 1 standings.

Port struck twice in the first 20 minutes to hand newcomers Khon Kaen United a 2-0 loss.

Buriram were put ahead after 11 minutes by Samuel Rosa, and Supchai Chaided, Chakkit Laptrakul and Peeradon Chamratsamee added goals after the break to hand promoted Chiangmai United a 4-0 defeat.

Hosts Port captured three important points that gave them a tie for third place on five points, two adrift of Samut Prakan and Buriram.

Port were given the start they needed as Pakorn Prempak planted a curling free-kick into the Khon Kaen net on 14 minutes.
