SURAT THANI: Police using teargas stormed a house and arrested a mentally unbalanced man who shot dead his elderly father at their home in Phunphin district on Tuesday, ending a 12-hour siege.

Around 6.30pm on Tuesday, Pol Col Paisarn Sangthep, deputy chief of Surat Thani police, ordered special operations police to clear the area. They then fired two tear gas canisters into the house where murder suspect Suriya Saengsawang was hiding.
