Pattaya Lifeguards Hold Maritime Emergency Drill to Build Public Trust

Pattaya —

Pattaya rescue workers and lifeguards on Wednesday held a rescue drill simulating drowning incidents on Jomtien Beach.

The November 8th practice was observed by Pattaya officials led by Mr. Kritsana Boonsawat, Deputy Mayor, and Mr. Charoen Thiammuang, Head of the Maritime Safety Control Center of Pattaya City.

The drill involved a simulation of swimmers drowning in Pattaya Bay, an assessment of how fast the lifeguards could rescue the victims from the water to safety, and practice for CPR performance.

According to Mr. Kritsana, the training results were satisfactory with the lifeguards and rescue workers collaborating with each other effectively. He added that the training is usually conducted on a monthly basis, but today’s drill was a significant one aimed at instilling trust among tourists.

In October of this year, a 7-year-old girl was saved by lifeguards at Jomtien Beach after a near-drowning incident. She was swimming with her brother when her shirt was accidentally pulled, causing her to go underwater. Fortunately, lifeguards promptly rescued her and administered CPR before rushing her to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. The girl was safe and sound.
