Pathum keen to play party poopers role

Holders BG Pathum United vow to get a result at Buriram United tomorrow to delay the Thunder Castle’s Thai League 1 title celebration.

Leaders Buriram are 12 points ahead of second-ranked Pathum with five games remaining.

Buriram will be crowned champions if they beat the Rabbits at Chang Arena.

Pathum coach Makoto Tekuramori said yesterday he and his men would do their best to prevent Buriram from winning the title tomorrow.

“We don’t want them to celebrate winning the title in front of us,” said the Japanese, who joined Pathum a few weeks ago.

“It will be a challenging match for us. Right now, my players have begun to understand my style.”

He said although he has never met Buriram boss and compatriot Masatada Ishii, he knows him well because he has coached several clubs in Japan and Thailand.
