‘One Bangkok’ construction paused after 3 workers killed in massive collapse

Construction has been halted on a downtown mixed-use mega-project after three construction workers were killed there.

Police were questioning witnesses today after the bodies of three workers were recovered from the wreckage of several collapsed levels. Four others were injured, according to Col. Nimit Noophonthong of Lumphini Police. All were Thai nationals, Nimit said.

Matwan Pinsuwan, director of the Pathumwan District Office, said the construction site has been sealed for investigation. The national engineering council is expected to brief the public on Friday. 

The workers died Tuesday while pouring concrete, according to a statement from the contractor, Italian-Thai Development. However, they were missing overnight and not found until Wednesday morning.
