Northwest Bangkok advised to stay home due to chemical leak

People living in northwestern Bangkok have been advised to remain indoors today after chemicals leaked from a factory. 

A plant in Nakhon Pathom province this morning leaked chemicals, sending a strong odor across a radius of several kilometers. 

The plant belongs to the Indorama Polyester Industries, which produces filament yarns, polyester resin, and polyester staple fibers among many others.

Due to the leak, several nearby schools canceled classes today. They included the Mahidol University International Demonstration School, Kanjanapisek Witthayalai Nakhon Pathom School, and Phra Tamnak Suankulab Mahamongkol School.

People living nearby have been warned by officials to stay home, shut windows and doors, or wear a face mask when they are outdoors.
