Need some advice or recommendations.

I am a foreigner. I have lived in Thailand continuously for the last decade. Paid taxes for all that time but recently quit my job and have become a full time father. My salary wasn’t worth the amount of time I had to spend doing work. My wife earns a considerable salary compared to my pittance. So we decided that it is better that I take care of the children and she do her work. She only has to work about 3 hours a day (be on premise). We have two children. One aged 5 and the other is 9 months old. We want to do permanent residence for me (it’s a massive pain in the ass doing anything if you don’t have residence). We are more than financially stable and are not wanting for additional income.

Can anyone here point me in a direction if we wanted to do this? If anyone has gone through the process how was it, and was some hurdles we avoid from your experience. Do we need an immigration lawyer? Where would we get one? (We live in Phitsanulok). Can we do it ourselves?

TL;DR want to do permanent residence. How and where to start? Should I get a lawyer? Can we do it ourselves?
