Monkeys at Big Buddha

I live about five minutes from the road that goes to the Big Buddha. I’m an amateur photographer and once I went up to shoot the sunrise over Chalong Bay. A gang of monkeys came at me and tried to take my camera equipment. I grabbed my stuff in time and got out of there.

I hate monkeys!

Anyway, that was about a year ago, so my question is, has anyone been up there in the early morning recently and, if so, are the monkeys still running the place at sunrise?
