2023 Quarter 2 overview

In Apr-June 2023, Greater Mekong subregion (GMS) countries reported 7142 malaria cases

Cambodia

Cambodia reported 267 cases, a 78% decrease compared to the same time period in 2022. P. falciparum + mixed cases and P. vivax constituted 1% and 97% of cases, respectively.

China (Yunnan Province)

Yunnan reported 129 cases. Among those, no indigenous cases were reported. P. falciparum + mixed cases and P. vivax constituted 1% and 98% of cases, respectively.

Lao People’s Democratic Republic

Lao People’s Democratic Republic reported 96 cases, a 88% decrease compared to the same time period in 2022. P. falciparum + mixed cases and P. vivax constituted 13% and 88% of cases respectively.

Myanmar

Thailand

Thailand reported 6567 cases, a 91% increase compared to the same time period in 2022. P. falciparum + mixed cases and P. vivax constituted 3% and 95% of cases, respectively.

Viet Nam

Viet Nam reported 83 cases, 8% decrease compared to the same time period in 2022.

P. falciparum + mixed cases and P. vivax constituted 27% and 63% of cases, respectively.
