I noticed that both MaxValu shops near my home in central Bangkok were closed last week. Now they have been completely shuttered and the signs have been removed.
Found one article (https://www.brandbuffet.in.th/2023/06/maxvalu-do-not-close-in-thailand/) with the latest comment from the brand according to which most of their shops (the unprofitable ones, they say) will shut down by July 1st, but they’re not pulling out of Thailand altogether.
It’s up to you whether to believe this corporate talk or not, but seeing they’re in a haste to close their shops and that Aeon (the mother company) has been removing all of its ATMs in the past few years, they might be pulling out in the short- to medium-term.
