Long stormy night floods Bangkok, snarls traffic

A heavy and steady downpour across Bangkok last night flooded several parts of the city, causing some of the most miserable traffic jams in months, if not years due to the pandemic.

Many motorists on Wednesday morning found themselves stuck behind the wheel on roads which included Sukhumvit, Rama IV, Srinagarindra, Vibhavadi Rangsit, Ratchadaphisek, and more. 

At least one Bangkok school – the Satriwitthaya 2 School in Lat Phrao district – announced its closure today due to surrounding flood conditions.

#Floods surged to trend atop Thai Twitter since Tuesday night, after heavy rain fell from late afternoon until early Wednesday morning.
