Lion’s Bentley Joyride in Thailand Ignites Social Media Uproar

Animal abuse and compromising public safety were the topics of discussion following the release of a viral film showing a guy driving a luxurious Bentley convertible in Pattaya, Thailand, while a four-month-old lion cub wore a collar in the back seat. According to the South China Morning Post, the video, which was posted on January 23 by a user going by the username Bangkok Boy, caused officials to open an inquiry against the lion cub’s owner.

User X shared the caption for the post, which reads, “Viral video of the day: A person, possibly from Bangladesh, drives a four-month-old lion through the heart of Pattaya in a leased Bentley convertible. How ill is this? It is cruel to have a lion as a pet.”

Online users expressed their annoyance through comments, with some calling it animal cruelty and calling for harsh penalties for the driver. Some others highlighted the obvious risks to the poor animal and other drivers.
