‘Let emotions flow’ in front of record women’s Rugby World Cup crowd

AUCKLAND – Powerhouses England, France and New Zealand will “embrace” the record 40,000 crowd set to watch the opening day of the women’s Rugby World Cup at Eden Park on Saturday.

The ninth edition of the tournament is shaping up as comfortably the biggest, with Auckland’s famed rugby venue set to be at its temporary capacity for a triple-header of matches.

Organisers on Friday morning said there were about 1,000 tickets still unsold for the three matches involving the three tournament favourites.

The opening game pits France against South Africa before Six Nations champions England face Fiji. The last game of the day sees the hosts and defending champions New Zealand…
