I came to Koh Tao because of all the praise it gets on this sub. But I got here yesterday and it’s been quite underwhelming so far. It’s hard to get around without a scooter, and it feels like 90% tourists, most of which are backpackers, and Sairee was pretty dead. Also it was hard to find Thai food as most places are super westernized, serving carbonara and burgers. The restaurants we did go to and ordered Thai food from were the worst meals we’ve had in Thailand. There aren’t really street food stalls like elsewhere in Thailand.. Don’t get me wrong, the views are really beautiful but the island just feels super westernized and there really isn’t much to do aside from water sports… Am I missing something?
Koh Tao is not what I expected
