Koh Samui 5 Star Resort Recommendations / Thoughts on the Banyan Tree?

Hey guys,

I’m planning a trip to Koh Samui and after so many years of no holidays, my partner and I are looking to treat ourselves to a hotel that is a little more up market.

Despite some mixed reviews of the Banyan Tree in Phuket, the one in Koh Samui looks pretty decent, with an interesting spa service aswell. My only slight reservation is that its a fairly old property now. I naturally want to gather as much research as possible before dropping a significant amount of cash on it.

I wondered if anyone had any experience with this resort or perhaps had suggests for an alternative?
