Kirin to end beer Myanmar beer partnership

Japanese brewer says ‘no option’ but to scrap venture with military-linked company

TOKYO: Kirin Holdings Co said Friday it will end its beer partnership with Myanma Economic Holdings Public Co, the main business arm of the Myanmar military, following the coup it staged this week.

Kirin said the Japanese brewer was “deeply concerned” by the Myanmar military’s actions that were “against our standards and human rights policy.”
