Joy and despair for Thai-owned clubs

The past month will have been a time for reflection for Thai owners of English clubs after a season of mixed fortunes. What they will have learnt in the past few years is how unpredictable things can be running a club in England with there being a narrow margin between joy and despair.

As the players return for pre-season training it would be foolish to speculate on what lies in store for the Thai-owned clubs in the 2023-24 campaign.

The biggest story is Leicester City being relegated to the Championship only seven years after their terrific title-winning 2015-16 season, making them only the seventh club to win the Premier League. The Daily Express called it the “Greatest Fairytale in Football History”.

It will be the first time Leicester have not been in the top flight since 2014 when they won promotion from the Championship after a 10-year absence. The club song…
