Italian Suspect Attempts to Hang Himself in Sri Racha Police Station

Sri Racha —

An Italian national detained at the Sri Racha Police Station attempted to take his own life by hanging in his cell. The incident on Tuesday prompted a swift response from police and emergency officials.

Sri Racha police urgently contacted the Sri Racha Sawang Prateep Rescue Unit to assist the unidentified Italian man on December 12th. Initial reports suggested that the man had attempted to bind his neck with a rope inside the detention room.

Upon arrival, rescue personnel and doctors from the Phyathai Hospital administered emergency medical care, including CPR and oxygen therapy, to stabilize the man’s condition. He was subsequently transferred to the Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

According to Pol. Lt. Koson Kitthurawanich, the officer on duty, the man was previously detained at the Saensuk Police Station due to his lack of identification documents and passport. He tried to harm himself in their custody before being transferred to Sri Racha Police Station for further processing at 6 PM on December 12th, Pol. Lt. Koson stated.

At around 6:20 PM, Pol. Lt. Koson heard screams of other detainees coming from the cell. He then discovered the Italian national attempting to hang himself with a nylon thread, which he claimed he used to keep his pants from falling to get it inside the cell.

Preliminary assessments confirmed the detainee’s safety. He remains under close observation by Sri Racha police to prevent any further incidents.
