Is a Temple Guardian (Yaksha) Tattoo Sacrilegious

I am considering getting one next time I am in Thailand. I understand it may be a bit cliche, but the imagery really appeals to me for a lot of reasons (as does Thai Buddhism and spirituality). Farang Kanook jokes aside, is a Yak tattoo illegal or offensive in Thailand?

Edit: Can anyone recommend a shops in Bangkok, important they use an autoclave and one time use instruments for me.
