Inspired by Solano County rabbi, Israeli couple opens House of Heart in India – Times-Herald

“Ahhh a home; ahhh tahini, ahh Hebrew…”

That’s the reaction of most people when they first enter Beit Halev (House of Heart) in Varkala, India, its co-founder Maayan Kline Ashush said.

Inspired by their time at the Solano County Chabad House and the concept of something called Moishe House, Kline Ashush, an Israeli military hero, and her family, have married their love of Judaism, travel and community, and opened Beit Halev (House of Heart) in far-off India.

And they’ve added an infant daughter to the mix.

While Chabad sets up religion-based “centers for Jewish life” all over the world, Moishe House is an international non-profit comprised of homes across the globe where young Jewish adults are provided a rent subsidy and program…
