Incentives offered to foreign filmmakers

The revenue from foreign film production in Thailand has doubled during the first four months of this year.

According to the Department of Tourism director-general Anant Wongbenjarat, the film industry welcomed 31 international crew teams from January to April this year, down 75% from the same period of last year when 123 production teams chose Thailand for their shooting locations.

However, the revenue sharply increased from 589.12 million baht last year to over 1.2 billion baht, or up 105%. Earnings for the first four months of this year were about 69% of total revenue generated from filming during the entire period of last year (about 1.7 billion…
