In Thailand for 5 nights. Can I go to more than one place?

Hello all! I will be in Thailand for 5 nights at the end of June. I will be flying in and out of BKK. Originally I was going to stay the entire week in Bangkok, but I thought I might get city-fatigue, and might want to explore less metropolitan areas as well. I am open to flying somewhere or going somewhere by bus. I was thinking of either Krabi or Chiang Mai, but of course open to suggestions. Do you think that 5 nights would be enough time to explore two cities, and if so, where else would you recommended in addition to Bangkok?
