If my Thai driver’s license (motorbike) is expired by 2 days, and I try to renew, will I have to take the written test all over again?

Hi all. If my Thai driver’s license (motorbike) is expired by 2 days, and I try to renew, will I have to take the written test all over again? I assume I will need to go through the full application process from scratch, but would love some boots-on-the-ground data, if anyone has it.

Renewing the license requires a ‘proof of residency’ certificate from immigration. And immigration has told me there is now a one week wait period to obtain one. So waiting for one will mean my license expires during that time.

My fault for not giving this long enough.
