I feel isolated here

So I’ve spent about 5 months here in Isan and although I love it very much, I am starting to miss being able to talk to friends and family. My Thai vocabulary increases about 20 words a month, but there is nobody but my wife to talk to, and even if there was I wouldn’t be able to have a real conversation with them. We are heading back to the states for 9 months and then plan on coming back here for at least 3 years. Is anyone else going through this and how are you handling it? Any ways to mitigate this? Thanks.
