How these artists use their heritage to create modern pieces

The trio behind Taiwan homeware studio Kamaro’an met during a school project and later bonded over an interest in cultural research and industrial design. The idea for the label, which means ‘a place to live’ in the indigenous Amis language, came after Tipus Hafay invited fellow co-founders Yun Fan Chang, pictured, and Shane Liu to her Amis hometown to learn about reed-like sedge and rattan-peel weaving.
