Help..Arriving/Departing at DMK. Is Sukhumvit a good place to stay?

Planning to visit Thailand soon (from a foreign country), already have ticket where I’ll be arriving at DMK, but I’m still undecided on where I should stay..

Deciding factors:

-Arrival at DMK

-Safe even at night

-Near the BTS or any mode of transportatiom where my return to DMK will be hassle free

-I’m planning to visit the Sanctuary of Truth, and either Ayutthaya or Grand Palace/Wat Pho.

-Somewhere where budget hostels/lodges are available

-Somewhere where food/mall/7 11s are just within a walking distance.

Many says, Sukhumvit is a great place to stay. Is it a good option?

If not any other recommendations?
