Hey All,
I’ve lived in Chiangmai before, right on Nimman, but I’m a bit older now and I’ve lost my tolerance for cities.
I’m looking to buy a 5 year Thai visa and move into a semi rural area outside of the urban center in Chiangmai (and head to the Islands Feb- April every year) . I value, access to nice restaurants and design style cafes, access to nature, cleanliness and peacefullness. I wouldn’t mind living pretty much on farmland as long as I could hop on a scooter and have at least 2-3 cafe and restaurant choices with a few mins.
I don’t care about partying/ bars at all.
So basically I’m just looking for the best vibes, the best restuarants and cafes, and the best nature. Just a really high quality of living.
By Thai standards I’m basically totally price insensitive. Technically my all in monthly budget is around $6k / month. Not particularly looking to waste money, I assume I can find something a lot cheaper than that but for the right setup, I’d be okay with it being expensive.
I’m cool with heading out as far as Hang Dong, Mae Rim, Doi Saket or really anywhere if it meets the criteria.
Edit: I’ve been playing around on google maps and saving links of places that look cool to me. Figured I’d post it in case it was useful to anyone. Everything I’m liking is around Doi Saket. Curious why no one ever seems to recommend that area though
