Believe it or don’t, the long-absent swan boats returned to Lumpini Park today to paddle around on as part of a city initiative to promote health and fitness, along with some new water-based fun.
Now park-goers can take paddleboards, kayaks, and boats out onto the park’s 360-rai (58-hectare) pond located in the large downtown park.
In celebration of the pond’s grand opening last week, all the new watery adventures, available from 9am to 6pm, will remain free for an unspecified amount of time.
All patrons must wear life jackets and may go out for 40 minutes at a time.
The activities come ahead of Loy Krathong, due to set sail Nov. 8.
City Hall has vowed more upgrades to what was the kingdom’s first public park as it nears its 100th anniversary in 2025.
