Having rights to my child

Hello,

I’m not married and the mother agreed to give me rights to my child.

I saw a lawyer today and he said that I have to go to court, but before that I need to do a DNA test of the mother, of me and my child at a police hospital in Bangkok.

He told me that the DNA test would cost 15k for each.

Lawyer fees will be 50k for the whole process.

Has anyone has been through this process or anyone knows something about it.

I would also know if 50k is a correct price as I never had to get an attorney.

I would really appreciate your help.

Thank you very much.

Edit : Thank you so much for your answers. I saw two other attorneys and they told me that if the mother agreed to give me rights to my child, then there are no needs to do a DNA test. Both of them asked 50k for the whole process.

If the mother did not consent to give me rights to my child, then the process would be very long, and we would have to do a DNA test. This process would cost around 200k in total but mostly I will loose the case even if I’m a single father and pay for everything. Another option is to find an agreement with the mother and pay her a price that you both agreed to get her consentement.

I think I’m really lucky since the mother agreed for everything.

I think the first attorney I saw wanted to take advantage of my situation. The two other I saw were way more professionals.

So it will cost me a total of 50k and I can even have a long term visa after all this process is done because I would be his legal tutor.

Thank you so much for all your answers, and I hope this post can help someone in the future. 🙏
