About 50% of the respondents to a NIDA Poll disagree with government guidelines for the spending of the 10,000 baht cash benefit, to be distributed under the digital wallet scheme, which state that the money can only be used to buy food, drinks and other necessary consumer products.
About 66% of the respondents agree with the government’s proposal that the 10,000 baht one-time benefit should be granted to Thais who are 16 or older who earn no more than 70,000 baht per month or who have combined bank deposits of no more than 500,000 baht.
Meanwhile, about 69% of the respondents disagree with the loan bill, to be proposed by the government to borrow 500 billion baht to fund the scheme, while about 30% agree.
