PATTANI: Two grenades were fired at an outpost of the navy’s 10th Marine Company in Mai Kaen district in the small hours of Tuesday, but the explosions caused no casualties or damage.

The outpost is at Khok Nibong village in tambon Sai Thong.

Members of the village defence unit and rangers manning the outpost told police they heard two explosions close by about 12.45am.

On Tuesday morning, an explosive ordnance disposal team arrived toexamine the area. They found two small craters among some coconut trees about 100 metres away.

They believed two grenades had been fired from a launcher, aimed at the outpost. They had fallen wide of the intended target.
