Govt asks people to avoid political gatherings amid pandemic

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is concerned about population’s health amid a new cold spell and would like people to avoid political gatherings as the Covid-19 outbreak continues, government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said on Sunday.

Mr Anucha said it is still necessary for the government to exercise its powers under the emergency decree and the Communicable Diseast Act to contain the pandemic.

The government would like people to avoid gatherings — particularly political ones — during this time, and thanks the majority who have cooperated. he said. The government does not want to see the number of infections grow as a result of political rallies.

The government is introducing more measures to help people affected by the latest Covid-19 outbreak and is preparing new economic stimulus programmes, he said.
