American Brendan Steele fired a nine-under par 61 in Saturday’s third round to seize the lead of the US PGA Sony Open in Hawaii
LOS ANGELES – Brendan Steele birdied three of the last four holes on the front and back nines to shoot a nine-under par 61 and seize a two-stroke lead after Saturday’s third round of the PGA Sony Open.
The 37-year-old American, last year’s Sony Open runner-up, finished 54 holes at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu on 18-under 192 after a bogey-free round.
“I feel like I’m swinging really well,” Steele said. “Course management is great. I feel like I’m doing well all around.”
World number 114 Steele said he wants to play just as he did in last year’s final round even though he lost to Australian Cameron Smith.
